Right now, I, Allan Rafferty, have a lot on my mind. What should I think about? My upcoming English exam revision of course and yes before anyone frowns upon me I revise. But inside my head there is a battle going on! Doctor who is being broadcast on the TV, I have a hot cup of black tea accompanied by a copy of Doctor who: The Writers Tale- the final chapter which sits firmly and teasingly by its side. Writing for episode two is complete and so the crazy shoot is about to begin, the big stressful week where for 3-5 days all me and Jacob Kay ever think about are framing and locations and cast members...
And yes, right now we are in a crisis! Not one, but TWO cast members are missing, one on an unplanned holiday and the other just hasn't got back to us and so our days our spent trolling through my facebook page trying desperately to find a replacement, the male is not such a hard part to cast as we have arranged filming blocks to be easy and get his parts done in one day, but the female supporting cast member, we have to find her by SUNDAY! And we're running out of options, on the other hand we have the perfect villain and the script is as scary as we initially planned, so I'm told.
And meanwhile under all this revision and pre-prod for episode two, my fingers are frantically working to get the episode 5 script done before it's scheduled film dates in late June- early July! My mind is crazy. Maybe somewhere deep inside that crazy is trying to breakout and one day I'll be living in a mental hospital whispering things like "the Jellyfish! THEY DON'T LIKE WATER!" and "Would you like to see my spoon collection?" But for now my mind is working, working along side that of Jacob Kays (GOD HELP US, FORGET THE RAPTURE OR 2012, NOW IT REALLY IS THE END OF THE WORLD) We keep trying to decide whether the YMCA is truly relevant to the plot and of course it must be because when we stop and think this character is the creation of two mad men and in that case, in a world that is created by Allan Rafferty and Jacob Kay of course the YMCA is relevant, how could it not be?
And then there are the casting calls for episode 3, so many scary people have applied it's brilliant and just you all wait, when our series hits the monitors, it will be Doctor who history! Let's just hope it's good history. And now ideas for the finale, oh the finale, are swarming into my head, all those things on an epic scale, will the companion die? Will she survive that long? Will we ever get there? Time will only tell and so as you can all see my mind is well and truly scrambled, scrambled inside the world of who... Not much room to complain, it's gonna be a blast!
Stay tuned for more on the Doctor who fan series coming very soon!
